You can grow in maturity if you remain in Christ. Read to learn how.

It’s okay to make mistakes. Recognize it, own it, and decide to not make the same mistake again.

I hope to encourage you with this verse using three different translations to bring it to light. James 3:2…

CSB: For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is mature, able also to control the whole body.

ERV: We all make many mistakes. A person who never said anything wrong would be perfect. Someone like that would be able to control their whole body.

TPT: We all fail in many areas, but especially with our words. Yet, if we’re able to bridle the words we say are powerful enough to control ourselves in every way, and that means our character is mature and fully developed.

Do you see that? If you find that you have brought something into line with Christ, you are powerfully mature in God. Not in all areas of our lives, no (I wish! But on that glorious day, we will…), but you should recognize where you have been given power (grace) to resist the temptation of this world and not sin. Push away any thoughts to indulge in the temptation or you may open the door of the darkness.

There’s an area in my life I thought I’d never be free from indulging, that the desire would always remain. I was terrified of the thoughts that invited me to sin. I was terrified because my past self would allow it to happen and that I would not resist. But since my surrender to Jesus in March 2022, every time these tempting thoughts came, I decided to not indulge.  This is made possible because the fleshly desire was gone and I chose Jesus every time.

It is a conscious decision. Choose to not indulge!

If you struggle in an area, release it to God and ask Him to give you the power to resist. But you must choose Jesus each time you are tempted. It might be hard t first, but you must persevere. This is an endurance race, not a sprint. You’ve got this!
